I'm toying with the idea of making my old Juwel Rekord 70 (70 litres/18 US gal) into a single species tank.

The first thing that came to mind was Guppies but how about Cichlids? Is the tank too small? Are there any species that you would recommend for a tank this size?

Cheers!

shelldwellers would be the only cichlids i'd recommend for that size tank, they're small but have bags of personality :good:

The cichlids that spring to mind are multies- Tanganyikan shelldwellers. That's what I would do if I were you.
Or if you are going to get livebearers, why not get something a bit more unusual? Halfbeaks, merry widows, there might even be some small goodeids you could squeeze in.
Or some small rainbowfish, like the pseudomugils.

or kilifish are very very pretty and often do best in species tanks
