Another thread in this section led me to starting this, about 6 months ago I submitted a species profile as did a few other members I know, and still they haven't been added, I did one for the marine section and a few days later Skifletch PM'd me saying it had been added, why can't the freshwater ones be checked too, if the profile I added wasn't up to the job a mod could have PM'd me saying so.

The thread I submitted was on ember tetras in the characins section.

I'll bring this up in the mod section Truck. We have to review them for accuracy before approving them so unless one of us is familiar with the species they do tend to wait. That is no excuse for not checking them regularly and researching if necessary, just an explanation for why it sometimes takes so long.

I can say that, as one of the reviewers, many of the additions are submitted that do not follow the requirements. One major issue I have as a moderator reviewing these is that photographs of the members animal are either not submitted or, unfortunately, photos are taken off the internet without permission.

We are doing as best we can to get them approved and going. In fact, we are looking at appointing new mods to help with some of the work we have to do here. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. :good:

I submitted one a good few months ago if not longer ago, picture was my own as was the information. Surely if there is any issues with what we submit then we should be told. I do notice though that in some species profiles people ahve asked questions or made useless comments yet these pass 'approval' and get posted.

Please give me the name of your index post always and I will examine it. Although the TFF Index posts are left 'open' to our members, posts to individual species are only approved if they add useful information from experienced 'keepers' that is not presented in the original post. In addition, any photograph that belongs to a member here that adds original views or is of a particular quality, may be approved. Otherwise, questions are split off as separate topics to avoid clutter and to keep the original post crisp and to the point. Members should be notified about the disposition of their posts.
