Hi all went to the lfs today to look at getting something really odd to go in my 3 foot tank, and i seen him an awesome fish, The lfs has marked up as a WATER COW GOBY, they have ordered one for me, so i pick him up thursday. I have his latin name OXYELEOTRIS SELHEIMI, i have done a search of the net and the it appears to me that the name coming up for this fish is SLEEPY COD, would love some info or a site if anyone knows anything much appreciated. Just a quick note the lfs said he was an only fish in the tank species so he will be going in on his own once i get him i will upload some pics for u all, i am very keen to find something but the net is not throwing much up at all. Also whilst i am on here just a quick note to say i was stunned whilst down there they have a 4" golden red tailed arrowana and he was asking £1250 for him saying when he is fully grown it will reach in the region of £5500 i have never seen a fish for this price not even marine.

Oxyeleotris selheimi are a relativly large fish that originate from Australlia, that is about all I know on this one. I haven't seen any in UK that I can recall.

It is not rare for Asain Arowanas to reach that kind of price tag and there are plenty of other fish in the hobby that can reach high prices like M.tigrinus or certain Koi.

thanks for the info it gives me a bit more to search for on the net, and as for that arrowana i was very surprised at the price although saying that i do know that koi can reach high prices, will have a look at those other fish u mention as well

many thanks

There are other Oddballs you could try like Peacock Gobies, Dragon Gobies and so on...........are they for your 55g?

well from what i have found out they are a species only fish if not the only fish and they can grow to around 50cm and i got another 55 gallon tank to put him in, so he will be in there on his own, i really cannot beleive it is so difficult to find any info on this fish on the net.
