spawning?

The males will turn a bright cherry red colour and will become more agressive towards the female. He may chase and nudge her, so you shuld either separate them until the evening before the day you'd like them to breed, or make sure there are dense plants or another type of cover for her.

Both fish are much more active and may jump out of the water (so make sure your tank has a hood or something to cover it).

HTH

yep that was helpful thanx, he is chasing her now, showing off kind of thing. I was going to seperate them because i thought he was just being nasty. Does this mean i should look out for eggs today?

If they are spawning, they should be removed as soon as spawning is finished otherwise they will track down and eat the eggs.

You'll need to have quite soft mildly acidic water for the eggs to hatch. To much Calcium in the water hardens the shell and makes it difficult for the fry to break out.

k thanx, and one other thing, my male has been 'rubbing' himself up against her since 9 am this morning and yet she still hasnt dropped any eggs. He always stays close to her bursting belly as if he knows they are gonna come out any second, but they dont. should i just be patient?
How big are the eggs?
