Caught my angels in the act again tonight. I think my digi skills have improved a bit in the last few weeks since I took the pictures of them last time, so here are a couple of close ups from this time around.
I know you can't see the entire fish. It's because they're spawning high up on the leaves and close to the front of the tank this time. You can see the eggs coming out of her ovipositor though.
wuvmybetta - They're used to me spying on them while they spawn, and they're also used to the camera. It didn't seem to bother them in the least. Actually, I came home last night and was feeding them and didn't even notice that they were in the middle of spawning until after I put food in the tank! They both took time out for a bite to eat, then went back to it! I was pretty surprised to see all the eggs still on the leaf this morning, and the tiger barbs staying mysteriously far away. I'm not sure what's up; usually the tiger barbs drive the poor things insane when they spawn and they promptly eat all their own eggs.
I won't see fry. Not in this tank, anyway. There are way too many other fish in there.....including a school of tiger barbs , three yo yo loaches, and a couple of skunk loaches. It's all part of my master plan to get a 100 gallon tank so I can move the community that's in my 45 gallon tank into it and put these spawning angels into the 45 by themselves. THEN I should see some fry. There are still four eggs this morning, though. I would think they should be hatching any ol' time, or else those four aren't viable? Beats me. *shrugs* They spawn all the time, but I've never had fry. (not really a bad thing at this point, seeing as I'm not currently set up to deal with them)
