hey guys im resealing my 20g tank for my spawn this winter and have a few questions iv been getting help from cc who has provided me with much needed info in the last week but i think ill ask some of u guys wat your think:

ok, iv been told that i should do the spawn in a 10g because in a 20g the male wont spawn wit the female because hes to lazy. has anyone ever had success in a 20g?

in the spawning tank, how deep should the water be?

in the grow out tank, how deep should the water be when the babys are free swimming?

iv alredy got a plan for my growout tank setup, i need to know if its ok. its going to be in a 20g tank with sand on the bottom. im also going to introduce ghost shrimp to eat anything that lands on the bottom of the tank. im also going to have a bubble wand running down the center of the tank longways for circulation of the water.

any help is appritiated :D

It might be too big, and the male might not be able to coax the female across the tank if she hides at the end opposite the nest.

About 6" of water should be good.

No substrate when spawning, but you can move the fry to the 20 gallon with sand later, if that's what you were saying.

If the 20 gallons is too big, you could also insert a divider (not to divide the bettas necessarily, just to make the tank smaller).

Have you already gotten information on infusoria, microworms, egg yolk, flakes, water changes, tank temps, tight-fitting hood, aeration, sponge filtration, etc.?

yes, im good on all the food stuffs ill be needing, im getting java moss in there for them so infusoria will culture and im going to order micro worms on aquabid. iv got BBS eggs i cna hatch and for when their older iv got frozen blood worms. doing it in a 10g i dont think will be a big problem, i guess i could set it up.
thanx for the help  ;)
