Spawn Diary\\opaque Whites

Two spawns in one week. What can I say? He's too gorgeous not to spawn.

The female was released late Sunday night. The male made a HUGE bubble nest right away. I caught them embracing earlier this morning. He couldn't quite get the eggs to release but after a couple hours, he finally got it! I wasn't sure if he was eating the eggs or spitting them out but I guess he did spit them out.. as I spotted some in the pictures I took. I counted about 60ish or so. I was hoping for a bigger spawn.. but, oh well. There's always F2.

Congrats, Ashley!!!! OMFG, your Opaques are BEAUTIFUL. Like, ridiculously beautiful. I cannot believe you got him from an LFS, you lucky Good luck with all of your babies, and awesome job!

I'm really bummed that I couldn't give you one of my pairs .... however, my next 2 spawns are coming up soon, so maybe I could trade you one of my pairs for an opaque pair! (assuming you'll be going down to WA this summer).

OOO!! Sounds good! My mom just got a pretty well paying job.. so we *should* be going down soonish. And if not, I'll definitely drive down after I get my license in April.

The babies hatched! Gosh.. they're so hard to see! Their tiny white bodies blend perfectly into the bubblenest. I only counted about 20 pairs of little black eyes.. but I could be way off since they're so blended in.

Daddy's doing such an amazing job with the babies. Lets hope he doesn't decide to take a snack within the next few days.

Looks like my original estimation was right. It looks like I have roughly 60 babies. Not bad!

They're 2 days old now. They're all free-swimming. Poor daddy is going nuts right now worrying about his babies.

I surprisingly got some decent pictures of them.
