I bought 2 apple snails, one for each of my betta tanks. I was having problems with planaria and didn't want to treat with sterazin as no-one could confirm whether that would affect the ADFs which are also in the tank. Apple snails were suggested as a possible way to control the worms.
Then I read yesterday someone say they need 10gall per adult snail. The 2 tanks I have put them in are 3 gall and 5.5 gall.
The snails are about the size of a brussel. Are they too big for the tank?
Also, I must say I'm a bit disappointed with their clean up abilities. The glass is far from clean and they poo so much it's untrue!

I've never really thought of Apples being "space invaders", but I mostly keep them in my fry tanks for the specific reason of their poo creating infusoria which is essential for the fry development.... I would think that quite a lot of them will be comfortable in a 3 gal and 5 gal tank.....

10 gallon ideally, 5 gallon at a push as you get smaller it is more likely they will become unhappy and go walk abouts to find a better environment.

Right, so does it sounds like mine are adults at that size?
They must still be finding plenty to eat as they are pooing for England!

I consider mine to be "adult" at around golfball size..... I've heard someone say they get to be tennisball size.... I have not seen those.......

Golfball is fairly average size they never truly stop growing though completely.
