Hello does anyone keep south american lungfish I'd like to compare notes mine is about 30" and lives in a 6x2x2 ft tank with big angels spanner barbs snake skin gouramis rtb sharks s sharks tin foil barbs and plecs with no problems hope to hear from you soon thanks

I once thought of getting one of the African species, but in the end, decided against it. I didn't want to dedicate my tank to just one fish.

Your friend must be feeding his very well.
From what I have read, lung fish are extremely predatory.

I Have a SAL.

He is 26inch and has to be about 8 years old.

I have him in an American cichlid tank, living with Two big Tiger Oscars, one Red Devil and other cichlids. They get along ok.

I have a SAL named Seymoure. ~16 inches long no idea how old he is but I've had him for almost a year now. I took him in from someone who couldn't take proper care of him. He was damaged... nearly missing all of his thread like fins and had nicks here and there. Now he has grown ~6 inches, has full fins, and no nicks. I used to feed him by hand but I think that really increased his growth rate so now I supply him with live ghost shrimp, snails, and bloodworms to hunt for. Still growing faster than I hoped but I'll do what it takes to keep this amazing creature alive & happy.

Does anyone have much experience with these guys? I'm wondering how fast they grow. I've heard their growth rate slows down when they are about 24 inches.... does anyone know this to be true?

Also, does anyone have a full grown lungfish? How big is your tank?

My dream for this fish is to build an indoor pond for him.
