Has anyone out there got any experience with South American Lungfish, I'm finding info on them quite thin on the ground. I was wondering what size tank a single specimen would require, and so far have read conflicting reports of their overall length.

Thanks for any help

I have a very small specimin which i have had since early November last year in which time i would say it has grown around 2 inches in length and considerably in girth.

From my own research previous to buying one the general opinion i got was to provide for an animal which will reach at least 3 feet long eventually, though growth would seem to slow down once the fish reaches around 2 feet long (most likely within the first 2 years). Wild specimins hace been recorded at nearly 6 feet long but it would seem that half this length is a captive average size.

I would say a tank of 10x3x2 would be a good sized tank to aim for with the eventual adult fish.
