I read somewhere it may be swim bladder so have purchased some treatment, I have been doing a 25% water changes every other day but has now got a red patch on his scales. Please can someone help I don't want him to su

First, can you post a clear photo or two so we can see this.

Second, can you provide data on the water...paramters (GH and pH and temperature), conditions (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate).

Third, what size is the tank. How long has it been running. What are the fish species and numbers.

Be very careful about using any medication. These substances will stress fish regardless of whether they are helping or not, so it is best to pin down the actual problem as best as possible and then decide on treatments if any. Fish unable to swim upright can be caused by various things, from water quality to parameters to internal protozoan to physical issues...etc.
