Hi.

Well, the first lot of eggs was a surprise and about 15 of them have survived the last 6 weeks and are now about 2cm long. I've found homes for some and the rest will be on their way to the local shop to go to new homes.

That's fine. Except that not 5 weeks after the first lot of eggs, I come home and find them busily laying a whole load more!!! :fun:

I now have another 35 fry hatched after 4 days! in the nursery net waiting for their older siblings to leave!

Question really is, how big should they be before I let them go to the shop or to my friends? and should I give the mother a break by putting her in my smaller tank on her own?

They only started laying eggs when I moved them into a huge tank in January!

Thanks as always,
Loz.

If they are a happily breeding pair, let them do it :) Its good to see people breeding fish, and you can maybe make a little bit of money from it :)

You should wait until they are an inch long at least before they go to the fish shops, maybe a little bit bigger when going to friends (depends how experienced fish keepers they are).
