ryt so i went and got a cucumber and a courgette will they sink down or what will i have to do will i have to boil them first or anything thanks

Hi you don't need to boil them, just weigh them down with something.
Also don't leave them in to long as they will start to break apart and pollute the water.

cut the cucumber in half and then half the other way so the fish can get to the middle part as this is what they will try. stick then in a small puddle of water and pop them in the microwave for a few seconds this will soften up the veg making it easier for the fish to consume. this will also help it sink but may not be guarenteed so weighing it down is best. i use the lead strips that come with plants and stick them into the veg. this is very easy after microwaving it as its soft :hey:

if anyone else has there own way of doing it please share its for my 2 albino females and my male bristlenose

I put courgette or lettuce (or melon, or apple, or broccoli) in a cup and pour boiling water over it while I'm making my tea :) I don't bother with cucumber; there's really not enough goodness in it to make it worthwhile bothering with, imo.

By the time the tea is done you can pour the hot water out. Rinse it briefly under the cold tap (so as not to burn you fingers!) and stab it with a fork or teaspoon; or sometimes I use that plastic coated wire you get round the flex of new electrical items, it looks neater and I get seriously fed up of people saying, "Why do have a teaspoon in your fish tank?"

The weight of that is normally enough to sink it, but if not it's nice and easy to wrap around a stone. I keep a supply of small stones handy in the pots of my houseplants

I sometimes feed sweet potato or carrot; they need slightly longer cooking; about 5 minutes on the hob; I guess two minutes or so in the microwave. You want the slices just softened, not cooked like you'd have them yourself.

This is what i do. They loved it! got to see my gibbiceps enjoy a good meal! I too get people telling me, 'you do know there is a fork in your fish tank?' i just say yeah there is one in that one too! lol.

i done the boiling water thing while making a cup off tea hehe  but it was hard to get it to sink it has a spoon on it but i hve a feeling when the BN comes along it will float up

De-shelled peas i presume?.

There really isn't any need to boil the veg/fruit to soften unless you have very small young BN's... keeping it un-boiled will allow you to keep it in the tank that little longer without deteriorating, adult/sub adults will be able to eat it un-boiled just fine.

I tried butternut squash the other day and they loved it
sweet potatoe is also a favourite

mine love courgette but not to keen on apple they ate all the peas there was 6 peas and they ate a good bit of cucumber i have 2albino females and one male i think the male is eating most of it
