There is something going on in my tank that is affecting just my corries, strangely enough, and nothing else.

It looks like their fins and eyes are being lined with some kind of white milky kind of thing. It's like a milky film. It almost looks like it's being caked on. I don't know what it is, but I'm seriously worried about it.

What could it possibly be? Is it deadly? How do I treat it?

Note: This is only affecting my cories. My Tetras and Guppies aren't showing anything like this at all.

A quick update:

Two things, I did a 50% Water Change and found a dead snail at the bottom of my air pump.

I also tried netting some of the corries and the white stuff started breaking off. I still don't know what it is though.

Hmm, the dead snail could have a part to play in the problem. I know I've read that when they die, they add alot of extra nitrates in the water (and other junk). The 50% water change was the right thing.

It almost sounds like a type of fungus....how are they acting otherwise?

Some cories are kind of sensitive, so this could be why the other fish aren't being effected by it. Maracyn or Maroxy (sorry, I can't those two straight) work well on true fungus infestations. However, I'm not sure how you're cories would handle the meds. Hopefully someone can help you more with that.

I checked on my cories this morning. One of them is dead.

I bought some seltzer thing called Fungus Clear and I just put a tablet in my tank. My remaingin cories have their fins clamped but the fungus clear also takes care of the clamped fins so I won't have to go out again.

How long should it take for my cories to start getting better?
