Okay, so we got some new live rock yesterday.............it was fully seasoned.......it has wormy-looking grey stuff all over it..........but it doesn't move or anything as far as I know. What could it be? One of my clowns tried to eat some of it and spit it out. I am sure it wont hurt my tank or my LFS lady wouldn't have sold it.....but I am just curious.........

like little white squiggles?

If they are what I think they are they are indeed worms with a hard casing. They have fan like ends. I haven't found anything on the ones that I have (basically just white from what I have seen). They have even propogated in my tank though not a ton... actually they are the only other visible life form I have (shrimps n stuff when I first got the rock... but I guess they all got gobbled up.. oh and lots of corline :) )

I guess they are some type of fan worm.

Well, I do have the white squiggles, and figured that they were sandworms, but these things are grey and soft like pleco poop. They are all over the new rock I just bought, were on the rock when we put it in. :dunno:

Pleco poo. ew that doesn't sound good. No experience with that no....
my only bad experience has been getting some crab hitchhikers out.

That sounds like miniature feather dusters.

They are completely harmless, and will merely filter feed. :fish:
