I was looking at my LR and I noticed something as it was opening up, really neat to watch. I am cycling my tank right now. I have 10 pounds of LR in my tank for 2 weeks now and this is my second ten pounds. I am just getting a little LR at a time so I don't raise the ammonia level to high as to kill my rock.

I noticed something on my new piece and here is the best pic I could get... it's really small. I only have fluorescent lighting and I was told that now corals would grow... but this looks like it might be a polyp of some sort... I wish I could get a clearer picture!

It looked like a stick and then it opened like a flower.

Sounds (and blurily looks :) ) like a tube worm, my LR had loads when I first got it, now has even more! I also have a new addition (after having the LR for four months, don't you just love LR) that looks like a crab claw, very small (2-3mm) and opens and closes.

I've looked around at liveaquaria.com and it is indeed a feather duster... it's about 1/4" tall...very small.

Try using the manual focus on your digital camera... looks to me as if your camera is focusing on the glass of the tank so everything in it looks fuzzy.

fro the blurry picture it definatly seems to be a feather duster. From your description it seems to be one. See this photo of a feather duster on live rock - is it like this one?

HTH :)

That's the one! Thanks for providing a clearer picture... in the mean time, I'll try to work out my camera problems :)
I don't have any fish in my tank yet... anything I should do to help the feather duster?
