the suggested "community tank combinations" had me thinkin that i might be reading the wrong book. its old as hell but i thought it could still have accurate information. maybe not?

"5 gallon tank: 17 mixed-sized fishes

6 bloodfins
2 medakas
1 paradise fish
1 corydoras
2 platy variatus
3 white clouds
2 brachydanio rerio"

(another 5 gallon recomdation)

"12 fishes a little larger

2 scalares
2 conchonius
2 dwarf gourami
2 blue platys
2 platy variatus
1 male betta
1 corydoras"

and heres a 70 gallon recommendation

"78 fishes, mostly medium sizes"

i wont type out all the fish but it involves 1 male betta, 1 male paradise fish, only 4 corys, a couple other gourami and about a million other small numbers of schooling fish.

times have changed huh?

Yes they have, they are very silly stock lists. If i were you i would ignore it.

as in all walks of life..information gets update as research is done.
all things evolve...such as the way people keep fish have :) while it may be fun to read through, to see how things 'used' to be done..id buy a more updated fish keepers guide..just to be on the safe side!
