someone munched on my shovelnose.

Came in from work yesterday......sat down to look at the fish ,and saw that my shovelnose has what looks like a bite!!
I am not sure which of my other fish has done this....but need suggestions on how to stop it happening again.
I have 2 shovelnose,1 oscar,2 rocket gars,1 ornate bichir,1 palmas birchir and 2 featherfin acara in this particular tank.
Any thoughts?

Most likely suspects are the bichirs whch will often bite other fish if they mistake them for food, other than that the only other suspect is the oscar but IME they do not leave bite marks.

Was it in the shape of a bite?
Or was the fin ripped?

My lima has gotten ripped fins from my bichirs before. THey heal quite fast, for the bad ones they are back to normal within a few days.

I'd lace money on it being the P.palmas as they tend to be very large and aggressive fish......... Never had a problem with ornate birchirs but who knows
