I bought this fish from the pet store. This is how it looked when I got it. What’s wrong?! Lol I feel like it’s going to explode.
I was told it’s a danio fish.

It's a zebra striped Danio - normally you would purchase 5 or more of them at a time because they swim as a group. That is NOT the way they are supposed to look - they are generally much thinner than this one. I've never seen one so bloated. I suppose it could be carrying eggs and looking for a place to lay them.

Did it look like this when you purchased it or did it get this way later?
Do you have multiple ones of these or just this one?
What other fish do you have?
You didn't mention if it is swimming normally so I'll assume it is swimming like a normal fish and not swimming on it's side or upside down at times?

Other than a belly full of eggs, I suspect it could have a belly full of worms. There are various de-worming products on the market, just go back to the fish store, describe the problem and see if they too think it might be worms of some type. If this is a cell phone picture - take your phone with you so you can show them the picture. I'm sure they've seen far more danio's than most of us - I had 5 of these at one time, and it's probably one of the more popular newbie fish you can purchase because it's usually so easy to care for. I think nearly every fish store stocks them. I've never seen an egg filled danio so I cannot say that is what her problem is.

I'm sure some of our disease specialist members will come along and give you their thoughts. Many have a great amount of experience and will likely have a good guess of all the possibilities this could be.

Yes, it looked like this when I bought it. But the guy told me she was just “pregnant”
Then I got home, and researched it to find out that they lay eggs and don’t have babies smh. I’m going to take her back today. I have 8 other ones. I put her in a separate tank because I didn’t know what the deal was. Thank you for your advice.

It’s probably parasites. Try API General Cure. If f that doesn’t work we may need to look at bacterial infections. I’d go with the General Cure first.
