I went driving today to get some salt, and in 1 lfs a bloke of around 60ish started talking to me ( ) 1st about nothing in particular, then went on about the fish in the main tank, which included a sohal, naso, and regal tang, and a large birdmouth wrass, he told me he had a birdmouth, and said his was smaller and proceeded to show me how big with his hands, which was about 6" or so, then he told me he had a sohal aswell, which was the same size as the one in the tank (about 7-8"), i told him they needed ATLEAST a 180gal tank, pref more than 200 gal, and that they were very agressive and terratorial when they get big, which he said was already agressive  , i asked him the size of his tank and he has a ...................................................................................................................................................................................

A TRIGON 350!!!!  :-( ,
i told it wasnt big enough, but it fell on deaf ears, told me it was 4'6 across the front  , "still not big enough", he just carried on, THEN he told me he had 3 triggers in there aswell, i had to ask which!, a chocolate (??? never heard of one) an assasi, and...... yep had to be!... a clown! , whether that was all of his stock, i dont know, he then got a member of staff and ask to buy the naso  . to which i left him to it and got my salt, i was going to tell the staff, but theyre muppets aswell so would have been useless. Poor fish

Dont worry, you did your best. All i can say is that I would like to have been a fly on the wall when he put the naso tang in the tank. Depending on the size of the tangs i would put money on the Sohal comingout on top. Whitespot will kick in and the fish will begin to die off

the naso was the same size, he commented on the regal, saying they were nice but wouldnt get one cause they get whitespot too easily , oh well.
Oh and the sohal in the lfs tank was very nice  and the naso, ive seen pics but they never really struck me, and ive seen a couple in a few shops, but were nowt special, this was really very nice though. Its sites like these and looking up on the hobby that i knew not to get it, shame he couldnt do the same, even when being guided by a newbie like me.

Some people really are idiots. Those are the people who care too much over the looks and not the science of fishkeeping. They just got the tanks to try to impress company. I hope he gets a person like one of us to walk in to visit and they let him have it.

THe underlying problem here is aolso a lack of responsibility in the shop. I would estimate that this person probably purchases from them on a regualr basis so they are liekly to know what is in his tank. If they are aware of this then they should simply say "sorry its not compatible with your fish and tank"

that tank would be big enough for a lot of those fish. 350 is big enough for a lot of sharks

350 ltrs? Thats roughly 80 Gallon.

Definately not large enough for the tangs and certainly not large enough for the Sohal
And absolute certanty not large enough for them all togehter.

I would not put a shark in a tank of this size, i would not even consider it in my 220 gallon (almost 1000 ltrs)

Yeah the Juwel range of tanks (Trigon, Rio, Visions and Rekords etc) are listed in ltrs.

The Trigon 350 is a really nice tank (corner bow fronted) and give lots os possibilities for aquascaping, just not suitable for large fishes like multiple tangs though :/

oooooo. Liters are small. :p *0 gallons is way to small for even one of those fish taht he has except maybe the wrasse wchich i have never heard of

Actually, I would put my money on the clown... hehehe... mine is starting to bite off chunks of live rock!! What an idiot... people like that irritate me so badly. It's not even worth your time trying to tell them what they are doing is wrong. I just plug my ears at this point when I hear someone telling one of the lfs workers abou their tank. I'm tired of arguing with people. This family came in and bought this 10 gallon and proceded to buy feeder goldfish (4-5) to "cycle" it. Makes me sick. :sly:
