soles in australia

John,

No idea. But I take it you don't want to catch your own? Brachirus salinarum can be found in streams running into the Gulf of Carpentaria and only grows to around 15 cm. I'm told it isn't an easy fish to care for, though. But it is believed to be a purely freshwater species (at least in the wild). For a brackish system, you can try Aseraggodes klunzingeri or Brachirus nigra.

If you fancy doing this, contact the Australia New Guinea Fishes Association. I know some of the guys there, and they're really nice people.

If you want to get your fish the easy way, some retailers will allow you to place special orders. The downside to this is it's time-consuming and sometimes expensive, and you may be locked into getting an entire batch of fish. It helps if you're a regular at a certain store.

Cheers,

Neale

does any1 know of anyone in australia that sells anysort of freshwater sole??

I've seen them in my LFS once. They were only juveniles abount 1", however I don't know where they were from, only that it's likely they're able to be ordered at good aquarium stores. Good luck finding some, they were very interesting.

If you have a good LFS, they should order you in some for you if u have a good relation with them. :) Just ask them nicely, and offer to place a deposit on them.
