Soft Water

Hey everyone,

Looking at softening my water and I was thinking about using peat. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this? My main concern is that if I put the peat in the filter, the water will become too soft too quick. I also worry that it will eventually stop working and the water will harden back up. I was thinking it'd be beneficial to just run the water through the peat during water changes, but didn't know if this would help. If anyone has suggestions or advice on how to achieve this process I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

you can buy products that reduce it if you're worried about using peat.

swap to sand with a peat underlay , i did that once , worked a TREAT

Why are you trying to soften your water? Fish will adapt to your pH and hardness.
