Soft Coral Lighting

Would soft corals such as mushrooms and polyps do well under t-8's? or do they need t-5's?

As long as your tank isnt much deeper than 12" you should be fine... When you start getting in the 18"+ range a switch to T5s or PCs would be in order. Most softies can be grown under T8s, just make sure your water quality is excellent to minimize stress with the lack of lighting

now i have look for a tank 12 inches or less in height or grab T-5 which either is gonna cost me a lot of $. Marine is so expensive!!!
