When I stuck the rock in my 5ft lit with a pathetic t8 twin bulb bar with marine blue and powerglo bulb (I did add reflectors as it was just too dark to see fish nicely). I was quite prepared to lose the couple of mushrooms and button polyps on it. I thought that the remains of the Leather Coral left after the main specimen was fragged would just shrivel up, but it seems that all of the above are not only surviving but thriving as is the Xenia I dumped in there. I know these aren't exactly high on the list of light loving corals but I wasn't expecting the levels of growth I am seeing.

thats great news, for us mere mortals on t8's, especially me as lighting is gonna be the last thing i get round to, in about a year or two lol (patiently waiting for the bottom to fall out of the led market)

I've heard that the T8 growlux tubes do well with photsynthetic coral but it also promotes nuisance algae.
