As many of you know, cation posted a thread about a week and a half ago about finding a store with halfmoon bettas. Anyways, I live about an hour away from the store, which is pretty darned far, so I had decided not to get one. Changed my mind! :p I had today off from everything, so I took a betta trip!

Was pleased to find a row of bettas, halfmoons, crowntails, veils, one double, and some females. Of course you all know I went straight to the expensive ones - yey for halfmoons... lol. I had a HECK of a time picking one out... They were all amazing, tons of colors.

Ended up with two. Big surprise right? Can't have just one! The first is between cornflower and royal blue. He's a little guy, very cute. The second is gold! Whoo hoo! He also has hints of greenish silver in his tail. Goooorgeous. He really stood out to me.

As far as tails go, they aren't bad at all. I knew they wouldn't be actual halfmoons, since those are rare and very expensive, but they are definetly delta, or super delta. I'll figure out that once they perk up from their long ride home - they didn't like it!! They also seems to have combtails, so that's a nice trait.

I spent way too much money... :-( !! They needed houses too, so ya know... and then Stress Coat was on sale, and and... hahaha.. I'm awful.

I'll take pics with the crappy webcam once they get settled in. :D THANK YOU CATION!! (That store was nuts - I've never seen flower horns in person, and theirs were HUGE... Also was cool to see all those discus and wild arrowana, neat fish!!)

Edit: Forgot to say... I think this puts me up to something like 14 bettas? OMG! lol... :*)

No problem!

I've been waiting to hear how it went - I just didn't know enough about bettas to be sure the store was a good find, but after seeing how much my guy has perked up in the last week, I think it was. He may not be a half moon, but he's got at least 170 degrees.

Julie can tell you though - lotsa cool fish, but that store is a full sensory experience! They have some pretty pungent reptiles, birds, and rodents. and it's a real hole in the wall.

But the bettas sure beat petco!

:kana: :kana: :kana:

Congrats Julie!!! I'm sure they were well worth the trip :D

LOL Chris

Congrats on your new finds

Only 16 or so more til you catch up with wuv and itty for the most number of bettas :hyper:

Congrats, You are very lucky to find some special bettas. I would drive an hour to get one too! Can't wait to see pics..

what are flowerhorns? don't think those are avaliable around here!

Olive - Flower Horns are a large type of hybrid cichlid. They are a source of controversy in the fish world, due to this. They are aggressive and require a large tank. Personally, I think they're ugly! But they are still impressive fish, especially when they are large males. Do a search for them and you should find quite a few sites, if you're interested.

They probably aren't available around there! I'd certainly never seen them before. They require such large spaces to live when they are adults, that most stores probably can't carry them. Not to mention they are pretty darned expensive and can't be sold that often, most fish owners don't have the room/interest for a fish like that!

When are we gonna get some pics of your new cuties?
