So can I have a healthy planted aquarium if my substrate is sand and all I add is Co2 and occasional fertz?

Any advice will be much appreciated, im new to all this.

Very much so! EI works well for inert substrate.

That is EI... LOL. With some good lights...
See the pin in the planted section..

Welcome to the planted side BTW,

Andy

See I said fertz although im not really sure what they are :p I did read a little about them in the DIY co2 section but the science was too much for me :p is there not a good old rip off bottle of somthing I can just put a capfull of in my water changes?

You could but Eco is Better.

My blyxa that was in Eco and in low light grow better then blxya in high light in sand . They are both in the same tank and get same co2 and ferts. One in eco was Much thicker then the Blyxa that was right under the light in sand
