I want to use the BIO-Wheel system if possible. I want a fresh water enviroment w/ silk plants and ceramic decor.

I love my danio so I want to have atleast 3 of those. 2 "catfish" corey.

But I don't really know where to begin.

So do you have just the tank right now or is there fish already in your tank? You can get a biowheel system for pretty much any size tank these days so that shouldnt be a problem. So if you answer that first question we can get you going with more advice from everyone here. Keep us posted :)

Just a dry tank sitting in the den.

I bought silk pants yesterday though.

But I don't really know where to begin.

I'm not sure what you mean by this, but I'll give it a shot, I get the idea that you want the basics.

As it stands you should have substrate (gravel or sand), a heater, a thermometer, and a filter. (likely an Emperor or Penguin if you like the idea of a bio-wheel).

Place the rinsed gravel in the tank, fill it about 3/4 with water. Place and arrange your decorations however you like them and fill up the tank the rest of the way. Fill up the filter too. Add the appropriate amount of water conditioner. Plug everything in and let the tank heat up to your desired temperature, usually around 78°. Let it run overnight.

Now you can cycle the aquarium by introducing fish or taking the fishless cycle route.

Thanks, I am going to the LFS this weekend to get some idea about how much the lid, lights, flitration system, and air pump will cost me.

Since the aquarium is glass and old looking, I am wondering if I should bring it to the fish store to have them make sure it can be used as a fish tank.

Since you mentioned that the tank is old, it might be better to fill it up with water first and let it sit for a day or so--just to make sure that there aren't any leaks or cracks that you can't see. Have fun!
