As soon as my mollie is rehomed i will be setting my tank up for a betta, is there any tips you can give me on what they like in there tank ive read that temp should be around 78 and that they like a slow current. Is there anything i can do to get them more used to me ?

Also stocking with the betta 6-8 small tetras 1 betta and i have six cories is this to much for a 10 gallon?

Any help appreciated

does sound a bit much to be honest, what cories are they?

no plastic plants *they tear there fins* so silk of real, broad leaved are favoured for resting on :)

personally i would up the number of Pygmies instead of adding another shoal to your tank, from experinece with dwarf cories they do best with 10+

Plants are always good, my pygmy's love resting on them

ok thankyou am i right in thinking the betta like somewhere to hide?

can i just get small plant terracota pots or do they need to be bought from fish shops they dont have a very good range at our shop.

A terracotta pot would be fine so long as it has no sharp edges and the fish can't get stuck in the hole at the bottom (you never know, they can be curious little things, bettas).
I know my betta loves to rest on the amazon swords and overgrown hygrophila in his tank and exploring all the nooks, crannies and gaps between the plants :D

As for stocking, I would also up the cory numbers and not go for the extra shoal. Perhaps you could try a few endlers if you were desperate, often seen those be advised for betta 'tankmates', though it would probably be better to leave it. It's likely that you'll see more of the cories if you have a bigger number of them, so you might not even feel the need for any more fish if that is the case :good:

Yes i went and got some corys today now have 12 in the tank got loads of really big leafed plants so hopefully hell be happy. was in pets at home getting stuff for my rabbits and noticed they had bettas and they where on 4.99 thought that, that was rather cheap !

The cories plus the tetras makes you a bit overstocked. Please choose one or the other to be the companion for your B. splendens.
