Snowball Plecs?

So i was in Dobbies Garden World of all places and they have a plec labelled as a Snowball Plec....Black with White spots (looked lovely) but it was £35 so i didnt buy it. Is that a decent price or well over priced for one of these? The fish wasnt more than 2"

Lisa/Smith looking towards you two here ;)

TBH cant say I've ever seen one for sale (I dont get out to the LFS) so couldn't tell you if it were a fair price. It was probably this:

...or another one of the spotty hypancistrus?

Lovely looking plec, and if I had the money and the opportunity, I'd probably get one ;) It does sound pricey but many fancy plecs are nowadays and to be honest, it's all down to what you think they're worth ;)

Eg I'd not worry whether I was paying over the odds for something if it were something I really wanted and it wasn't a common opportunity ;)

It doesn't sound like too bad a price as we paid about £38 for ours. He was probably a similar size to the one you saw.
Here's our shy little Snowball.

looking at my sig, would it happily go in any of my tanks do you think?

Not really up on Plecs so id rather know now that the Kribs would tear it apart before putting the fish through the strife :)

With the Plecos that you already have, I can't see there being any problems at all.
Ours is kept with a BN, Blue Phantom, Green Phantom, Peckoltia L205 and a Candy Striped Pleco. They don't take a lot of notice of each other and seem to have their own "place" in the tank.
If your other Plecos have been fine with the Kribs then a Snowball should be ok too.
I don't know of other people's experiences but we have found ours to be quite shy. Pops his head out now and again but likes to hide a lot amongst the bogwood.
Good luck with whatever you decide but I can guarantee that they are well worth the money. :good:

The thing about white spotted plecs is that there are tonnes of them. Without an L number or proper species name, it could be one of a myriad of plecs, big and small. Any chance of asking the shop which L number it is? :good:

unfortunately its in Dobbies Garden World and just labelled as a "Snowball Plec" nothing else, they also had some Tiger Plecs and a rather stunning blue/greenie gold plec which was nameless....

Anyway ill not be back till at least the weekend, so ill see how my finances are then.....My Kribs only cause strife when they have the babies out and about (which doesnt last long with the 2 Hoplo Dysons) im tempted to pick one up and put it in the 65litre in the livingroom along with the Clown Plec if they still have them...
