Snails

Common snails will multiply and multiply and multiply. They will mess with some plants I think, but I couldn't tell you what exactly. I doubt black moors will eat them, but firemouth cichlids, dwarf puffers, and clown loaches think they're quite yummy ;) I've seen a LOT of snail eggs in my 55g tank, but very few snails thanks to my little clowns :D

In my tank one loach and 5 ghost shrimp keep the snails at bay. I've never found snails in my tank, but tons of babies in my canister filter. I dumped them all into my tank. I watched the ghost shrimp eat several (cool to see), and I'm certain my loach eats it's share as well. that was 2 months ago. I still find them in my filter quite often, but I've never seen anymore in the tank. Any I put in the tank from the filter disapear with a day. You can see the broken shells, but never a live one.

Pond snails will stop multipling with they run out of food so if they get way out of control it is cuase of over feeding. My fry tanks have 100's of them but my 55g planted fish tank has about 10 in it most of the time. And the 40g long plants tank has not fish and no snails cuase of no food. They make the move on baby plants but die without food. Most pond snails do not hurt any plants. Less not med to hard leaves plants I have seen them eating on dead or dieing leaves. Pond snails even thoe kinda ugly are very very useful in a tank.
