i'm running my tank(fishless cycle) for a week now.

Now, i have that nitirite spike, and i'm waiting until the nitrite level gets to 0.

I'm gonna add neon tetras in my tank.

Anyway, the problem is that i see some tiny snails on the walls of my tank.

What are those?

When i saw yesterday, there was only one, but today, there were 4!

Damn fast.

Is there any fish that i can put into my tank with neons and eat snails or algae?

I mean small and peaceful enough to do well with neons? :(

How big is your tank? Have you added anything from another tank that might have a snail or snail eggs on it?

my tank is 10 gal. Now I only have some real plants and rock.

I'm doing the fishless cycle right now.

I think i got those snails from plants, I guess.

So, is there any fish that eats those snails and do well with neons? Do otos (Otocinculus) eat snails? :(

remove the snails now while they are small and the problem may disappear. If you want snail eaters you are looking at puffers, which probably are no good with neons and loaches which can get large and like to be in groups. so your best bet is manual extraction, as you see them remove them or bait them with a submerged lettuce leaf put in the tank just before dark and removed early in the morning. You may have to repeat this until you dont see any more. Also if there is no food source for them they will go away.

Neons are not a great fish to add to a newly cycled tank. They dont like changes in water chemistry, to which new tanks are prone. I would wait at least 2 months or more before adding the neons. HTH :)

Hi. :)

I would put money on that. I just added some new plants to my tank a few weeks ago and now I have at least four snails. Oh well...it's another excuse to get Puffers. lol
