snails

i have these little bugs that look like snails in my tank. how do i get rid of them, ive been pulling them out everytime i see one, is there anything i can do to make sure they dont come back at all, like water chemicals or something?

are they snails or do they just look like snails? Unless they are a harmful parasite dont use chemicals, anything that kills snails is not good for your fish. Years ago i used a snail be gone thing in my tank and all my fish went into shock and where at the top of the water gasping. I immediately did a water change and granted I have super sensitive skin but the water actually burnt on my skin and I broke out in a nasty rash on my arm the next day. Luckily my fish all survived.

Pick out the snails and mush the slimy egg gunk, dont over feed your fish. Depending on you tank size and its inhabitants there are a lot of fish you can get that love to eat snails.

If you are certain they are snails, you could invest in a snail eating fish like a Loach, if you have enough room in your tank. Loaches love eating Snails and their eggs!!
