Snails

I have recently set up a new tank, and have noticed 1 little snail. I think it must have been hiding in the plants I have bought. Will the snail eat my plants? Is it better to remove the snail from the tank?

I would remove the snail now while you still only have one/a few. When there are hundreds, it's more difficult. I find them a total pain.

Some people however, like snails.

Your choice really.

LOL.... these are probably trumpet snails. You'll end up with a million, so I'd get rid of it now. If you like and want snails, buy mystery snails or apple snails at your LFS, theyre cheap and don't reproduce quite so quickly

You realize that even if you remove the snail/s like i did when i got my first tank they showed up in like 20 in a few weeks. therefore I don't think you will get rid of them (Due to eggs) however I cull the little ones and the fish love it (they eat squashed ones) Therefore its a free food in a way . If you really really want to keep the population under control if they break out so to speak is introduce pufferfish but i wouldn't reccomend this because they are aggressive....
