Can I use baby (read: VERY tiny, perhaps a mm or 2) malaysian trumpet snails as a live food for Dwarf Puffers? Will their shells be too hard even at such a small size?

At that size they may be ok...but the DP's may not be able to crack the shell and the snail will just grow in the tank and may prove a problem due to the fact the DP's will always hunt it and try to eat it, everytime they see it..

I think the DPs should be able to eat the malayan trumpet snails, if they don't, the snails will become good scavengers for the messy puffers

Do ghost shrimp offer anything along the lines of tooth-care? I know that my tasty jumbo shrimp have a bit of a shell when I eat them, is it the same with ghost shrimp? Also, can a DP take on any sized ghost shrimp, or only the smaller ones?

I'd not use MTS because of the hardness of the shell. Even though they are so small If the snail gets away and populates your tank then your DP's may hurt themselves trying to crack the shells. I don't know a lot about the subject, sorry.

DP's will often just eat the snail out of its shell, no problem there. MTS will get away however, my DP would nip at the flesh of any mts he saw, they are tough snails though and they all simply learned to stay burried during the day, as soon as I moved him to another tank they came out again, a great pairing imho.
