I have a 3.5 gallon betta tank that has finished cycling. I am going to get a small female Betta for it but are there any snails or other little critters I could get for the tank? I would prefer not to get bladder snails or assasin snails because I don't want it to get overrun by snails. Thanks in advance.

Nerite snails can be really pretty, they don’t breed but they do sometimes leave eggs around the place. They come in some lovely shapes and patterns.

I love Nerites. I have a couple in my 29 gallon. I was thinking maybe an Olive Nerite for the 3.5 gallon. How much should I feed one Nerite?

Assassin snails will breed some, but I don't think they'll overrun a tank. Snails mostly get out of control when the tank is over-fed. Any of the smaller snails would probably do. Congrats on your successful cycle.

I ended up getting a blue and red Female Betta plus a Nerite snail that appears dark brown with some white spots. I cycled the tank in 24 hours by heavily seeding it with cycled filter media and used driftwood. I had the water tested and there was 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and about 6 nitrates.

One question though, at Petco they had all the female Bettas together in a large tank. The one I bought is now alone with a Nerite snail. Will she be stressed because there are no other female Bettas?
