I set up my 70 litre tank 6 months ago, my live plants were from a snail free company, for 6 months I never saw a snail, but today after 6 months, was 4 snails.
My other tank does have snails, and I do use a python gravel cleaner in both tanks, I can't understand where these snails came from, unless it was from the python. Could that be the culprit, I've not added anything new to tank including fish.

Do you flush your python with tap water after uses ?

You have good chances they survived in your tube and where introduced to the tank in that manner.

The only way to prevent cross contamination with tubes is to never use a tube that serves to drain water to fill tanks.

Clean water -> Clean tube. Dirty water -> Dirty tube.

This prevents the spread of "everything" illness, algae, protozoan, snails.

It's one of my major gripe with the Python. The only way is to disinfect the hose very often or have 2 hoses.

All might not be lost, squish them on sight for a while, you have chances of winning if took over early.
