Well, I appearantly have a Malaysian Trumpet Snail in my tank. I read that they multiply by themselves but how long does it take and what conditions do they need?

It depends on the temperature, when i had them at 23 degrees Celsius I got around 5 baby snails in a space of 4 weeks (I was braking down the tank so i was able to sift through that sand and count).
I'm told the higher the temperature the faster they 'breed'.
They are no problem though, they clean the tank up of enough rubbish to more than make up for the extra bioload they put on the tank, and they don't touch plants (though they do eat algae).
You hardly see them during the day either, they hide under the sand/gravel until night.
