How do the snails build up there shell in the water?
do I need to put something into it to help them? I have lime should I put some of this in the water? or mayby some egg shells?

thanks,

They take nutrients from the water column, if you live in a hard water area you will be fine, if your water is soft however they may struggle so adding a handful of coral sand would be beneficial to them, ensure that your fish if any will be ok with the changes in water chemistry.

Im in a soft water area. I have green neon tetra and kuli loach in my tropical tank and gold fish in my cold,

would this do?

You could also crush up some clam shells and either sprinkle them over the substrate or add them in the filter. They are basically the same make-up as coral and much cheaper ( tasty too). Also could suppliment their need for calcium by giving them tums( what people take for heartburn). May sound strange but tums have plenty of calcium and snails love them!
hope that's helpful.
cheers
