I have a tank with a couple of apple snails and some MTS, they live with a few ADFs and some shrimp.

The snails have started to develop white tips to their shells. The very end where the spiral is the smallest.

My water is fairly hard and the Ph is rock solid at 8. Is this a calcium problem? I just added a big, somewhat crumbly chunk of calcium carbonate. Will this help?

Thanks

I found mine did this with age, no matter how good the quality of water is or PH. You only have to worry if you get errosion holes in the shell. Just sounds like they are getting old like the rest of us :/ With a PH of 8 I wouldnt have thought there would be any need to add anything to your water, as it may upset the other inhabitants of your tank. :look: Maybe you can take a look at their diet and see if there are any improvments that can be made there.
