It'll help with algae and will eat any plants you have in there or die if you don't. They are mostly all hermaphrodites, so you'll probably get some more. Spot eggs quckly and discard.
Just remember, they pollute just like all fish. Once they die, remove quickly b/c dead snails really mess up the water.
