Snail Cycle???

Can I use a large apple snail to cycle a 12 gallon tank? Or any tank for that matter. Then I wouldn't have cycle fish to have to figure what to do with and I plan on keeping the snail in the tank after the intended occupants are added. It seems like it would work or am I missing something?

I'd have to wonder if the snail would produce enough waste. You could always use ammonia for a fishless cycle.

A large Apple Snail produces quite a bit of waste. I had forgotten about fishless cycling tho with ammonia so that is an option to. Maybe I will try cycling with the snail and report back how it goes. Thanks!
