JUst noticed that on one of my male bristlenose plecs, there is a small white patch, doesnt look fluffy, just more like a chalk mark type of look..

Anyone any ideas what it could be, all the other plecs seem fine.

here is a pic (sorry not great quality)

Can we take a look at your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
As I remember your tanks still cycling.
White patches like that can be due to bad water quality, columnaris as they can just looked like bleached out, to parasite.
Can you make sure there isnt a tinging of red around it.

Hi m8, my tank has cycled :) - you must of got me mixed up with someone else :)

Tests show..

Ammonia - 0

Nitrite - 0

Nitrate - 30 - 40ppm

Ph - 7.5

No red around it either :)

Ok sorry, knew your tank was fairly new set up
Just want to make sure there no signs of flicking and rubbing, or labourec breathing.

He just spends most of his time in that barnical, but when he showed himself i noticed that patch, is it anything to worry about, he seems fine but i have lots of meds if you suggest i need to put some in.

For columnaris in the uk myxaxzin by waterlife and pimafix.
Or anti internal bacterai med by interpet and pimafix.

Meds that are not very good on columnaris in the uk are anti fungus and finrot med by interpet.
Esha2000 dosn't seem to do much on columnaris.

Ok.
What meds do you have as I bought loads when I first started the hobby.
You only need whitespot, bacterial med, now learned more internal parasite med.

i Have got ...

KIng british disease clear..

INTERPET AQUARIUM 5- GENERAL TONIC 100ML

INTERPET AQUARIUM 6- ANTI WHITE SPOT 100ML

INTERPET AQUARIUM 7- ANTI SLIME/ VELVET

INTERPET AQUARIUM 8- ANTI FUNGUS/ FINROT

INTERPET AQUARIUM 13 - SWIMBLADDER

I aint got

INTERPET AQUARIUM 9- ANTI INTERNAL BACTERIA

INTERPET AQUARIUM 10- METHYLENE BLUE

You could use the anti fungus and finrot med, they say it for columnaris but it dosn't always work.
Methylene blue terrible stuff for staining, some brand can wipe all the benefical bacteria out in the filter.

The tonic are a complete waste of money.
They are very weak as there is three meds mixed in fungus, bacterial and parasite.
I've use it till I found out that you are wasting your money on it.

I will gove this a try wilder, i guess its better than not treating with anything, thank you for your help..

I will purchase the internal med you suggested tomorrow, if the anti fin rot and fungus does not work, il treat with internal med when that one has finsihed :)

Again, thank you :)

ps, i never use that tonic crap anyways lol

I don''t get interpet meds sometimes, I think the swim bladder and dropsy med is anti internal bacteria med, I heard they were both the same.
Unless the anti internal bacteria med more advanced than the swim bladder and dropsy med.

Maybe i should use that then instead of the finrot one..

Does it say if it treats anything else on the swim bladder instructions, I've never bought the med to be honest.
They don't tell you what in the meds do they, as it would be worth checking.
