Well, we're all moved it! Fiyero and his ladies and I are all set up in my dorm room, and fortunately not only does my roommate love them but I've had people dropping in to admire them too, so they're a hit. One incredibly overplanted tank still did not convince the girls to get along, so they're divided again, but otherwise they're doing reasonably okay.
My question, though, is about two of the four girls. Yesterday, I noticed that Elphie and Galinda both had a thin, almost translucent thread about a half a centimetre long descending from the area of their oviposters. The other two girls don't show any signs of this, and when I checked again last night, Galinda's had vanished, but I'm still a little uneasy. Could this be a parasite of some kind, or is it possibly related to them just dropping their eggs? (Galinda has been feasting on hers ever since we moved in. I knew it was likely to happen, and I'm trying to love her anyway, but I mean, eew . . .
)
Anyway, yes- thin thread thingy: normal ovulation accessory, or evil parasitic tag-along? Anybody?
