i went to one of my lfs yesterday and they had 2 small stingrays for sale when i enquired about them the shop owner said they only grow to about 6-7 inch discs.... is this correct? if so what are they?
im just curious as the only rays ive seen before have been huge.......
i cant remember what they were labelled up as but they were small and dark in colour with no obvious patterns on them. they were both in the corner next to each other no really moving about much too......

Your retailer is having a laugh. There are no freshwater stingrays in the trade that stay that small. Possibly he thinks "teacup stingrays" are a species, as opposed to what they actually are, baby stingrays of various different species.

Cheers, Neale
