Lucifer, my crowntail, has a small hold in his tail fin. It's not discolored much that I can see, but should I treat him for finrot anyway? Or am I just freaking out once again because he's my favorite (and most expensive) fish and all my new fish are dying?

EDIT - forgot to say he has no tankmates at all.

He'll be fien dont worry its probably just a lil tear =) If you feel like you have to, you can use some melafix just a little bit will be fine.

Might just try to keep the water clean. Kobie has a small hole in his tail and it cleared up in less than 12 hours. Sometimes I wonder if I just imagined it since it was fixed so quickly. But I noticed that holes and small tears heal really fast while fin regeneration takes a fair amount of time.

The hole in the tail is a very common occurrence... I'm not sure what causes it, since I take it the fish are kept separately for quite some time before being sold.

Anyways, clean water, a pinch of salt, and you should be set :D
