believe it or not your common feeder goldfish(usually comets) are cool as hell. In a 30 gal tank tey will grow fast and provide a lot of entertainment.. not to mention they clean the tank of rotten food and extra algee. They also provide a nice peaceful slow swiming tank. The way I learned this was buying three feeder fish for 14 cents a piece and had them in a ten gallon tank. They grew (and they grew on me) two years later those 14 cent feeder fish are in a 55 gallon tank and get along with(and are some of the best) of my pride fish..!!!

please get a comet they are great
ESKCarr my family will agree

good luck

Sorry to say this but...Comet goldfish are not appropriate for a 30 Gallon tank. Comets are very active fish that grow huge, and should live 10+ years. They are far better suited for huge tanks or ponds. Even fancier breeds of goldfish often grow very large, and because of their high waste output require something like 10 gallons per goldfish.

- There are several small and very colorful types of rasboras out there that are not nippy and school beautifully.
- Endler's livebearers are also quite stunning (although somewhat hard to find), but be warned they breed like rabbits.
- You could also try neon, cardinal, or glolight tetras as well...just note that most of these like groups of 10 or more.
- Brochis Splendens aka. Emerald Green Cory are fun little bottom dwellers, or you can try to find some of the more fancy strains of Corydoras Aeneus which look very similar and are slightly smaller
- Celebes Rainbow (Telmatherina ladigesi) grows to be about 3 inches, but are very neat looking little fish.

Thanks a lot for alll your help guys goldfish are beautiful but they do get large and i was looking for warmer water fish Endler's livebearers sound great il see if i can fin some otherwise im sure i can find some online i was also thinking about getting Killifish but im not sure.

I'd go for a group of corys to be a good clean-up crew, and a shoal of any of the smaller tetras.
Maybe some dwarf cichlids as well?

A small school of glowlight tetras is always a nice sight. Closely resembling the neon tetra the glowlight offers a not so common look and if you get six to ten of them they look great in a school. not to mention easyto care for.

good luck
