I think I remember reading somewhere that there was a type of small cichlids that can go in a 10g-20g. The reason I am asking is becuase next year I will be staying in a dorm room and they only allow 10g tanks or less. I am willing to get like a 30g because I really don't think anyone will say anything but I am still wondering about small cichlids. Anyone have any info on these?

10-gal can hold a pair of brevis (shell-dwellers), or a trio of multis, or maybe a pair or trio of apistogrammas, depending on which ones. With a 20-g you could have rams, kribensis, shellies, julidochromises, apistos, and of course with a 30g you could have a combination of some of these (such as 2 types of shell dwellers, or a pair of shellies and some julidochromises).
It depends on your water, too, as some of these like soft water and some hard.
