ok im thinkin about gettin a few snails but what do they do........
well i no they eat things like remains and all that

are they worth gettin
how many should i get
how much are there

Your query seems to be very general but I will try and answer it. I would also like to state that I am a beginner and not an expert in anyway.

About snails I have one and well... I got it initially to deal with an algea problem. After reading abit more I realized that my snail needed more than just algea to be happy.

Snails will eat just about anything that is not fake, that includes plants that you may have in you aquarium.

Check out the site beow, it is very informative with respect to snails.

If you are looking for a snail to clean up food remains (of which there should be very few in your aquarium unless you are overfeeding) I recommend ramshorn snails. If you are looking for a cute (in my opinion) snail that gets large and eats any green matter available, get an apple snail. Be careful though, apple snails NEED to be fed about every other day for them to be healthy. The good news is that apple snails eat just about anything: cucumbers (best choice IMHO) lettuce (another good choice), carrots, cherry tomatoes, tomatoes, apple slices, etc, etc, etc. Good luck with whatever you choose.

apple snails and malasian trumpet snails are ok and can be benificial to the tank.Pond snails are are not really good a breed like rabbits. So id avoid them.Once you get them its very hard to get rid of them so think carefully.Mabe get afew shrimp. They are good cleaners and are interesting too

Don't buy snails if you have clown loaches, they like to eat them as a snack and any tank my loaches have been in have never had them in it, just a point in case you have them hehehe.
