I just got a blue apple snail about a week ago, and have found that it likes a particular spot nestled slightly in the sand under an overhang of driftwood. I find it there every morning and it stays there for hours after I turn on the lights in the morning before eventually coming out and moving about the tank. Sometimes it seems to come back there and take a nap during the day too.

Is this normal? I thought snails were a little more active, he was pretty active when I put him in there the first two or so days, but now he seems to spend a good bit of time in 'bed'.

well apples are in the same family as the mystery snail. they have periods of times that they are active, and others when they are not. i have never heard of one picking out a spot though, but that maybe your little guys quirk. as long as you do see him cruising around and he/she is eating then i wouldn't worry too much about it.

Actually I'm fairly sure mystery snail is just another name for apple snail.

The origional "mystery snail" was the livebearing trapdoor snail (as in it was a mystery where the babies came from).

As long as he isn't doing it because of something weird, I personally think it's kinda cute finding him this way every morning.
