Slate Caves?

Just wondering how people go about making these? obviously i know they are just bits of slate cut and stuck together with silicone, but where do people get the slate from? How is it cut?

The ones im on about are normally used for breeding plecs

I'm after a couple and i know a good couple of people that want some too so would be cheaper if we all chipped in and made them ourselfs (well i think, thats why im asking )

Have a look in local builders yards... our B&Q do slate "chips" some of which are 2 inch square and bigger !!!! handful of these, and some silicon, or superglue...
